Playing It Safe With Electricity In Your Cambridge Home

After you’ve made the decision to relocate to Cambridge and settled in your new home, there are things that you’ll need to get familiar with. One of the things that you’ll want to be comfortable with is the electricity where you’re living and there are a few things that can help you play it safe as you explore around.

Of course, one of the first things that you’ll want to do is prevent shock should the need arise that you need to make some small adjustments to the electrical circuits in your new Cambridge home.

To do that you should have a basic understanding of a few simple safety rules that need to be followed.

  1. Before you start working on any of the circuits or wiring, switched or receptacles, it’s critical that you make sure that all the power is off to that particular circuit.
  2. Go to the service panel and locate the right fuse or circuit panel that is protecting the circuit. Here you’ll need to unscrew the fuse or trip the breaker depending on how old the electrical systems are in the Cambridge homes on your street.
  3. Always use a tester at the right outlet to confirm that you’ve turned everything off properly.

Remember that current always flows in a continuous path from the source and then back to it. By taking the right safety precautions you’ll be sure not to receive any shocks.
